Miss Bailey's Blog - Week 5, 2023
I have to say, I’m really looking forward to our Declamation Poetry evening for our Main School Parents tonight. I love to see new events in our school diary which further develop and showcase the talents of our girls. The English Department have been working hard with the girls and we have 14 finalists and a very good range of final poems and styles. Well done to Mrs Thompson, Mrs de Villiers and the entire English Department for getting this event and our Year 5 to 8 finalists organised! It looks set to be a very good event.
Despite the promise of summer weather on Sunday, this weekend, we have clearly started to see the changes in season and the Lodge Harvest Festival was beautiful this afternoon. Well done to our youngest members of the school and this wonderful event leaves us all feeling happy and inspired, every October. Thanks to FoG for another delicious cake sale which was a hit as ever and extremely well-attended! Sat at lunch today, there was a positive and fun atmosphere, with all girls and staff enjoying the food and company ahead of the weekend. I feel very lucky to have the team that we do at Godstowe. Everyone cares, going over and beyond to ensure your girls are well cared for and this was further evident as Activities Day drew to a close yesterday with every member of Main School enjoying their day off the normal Thursday timetable.
This weekend, puppy yoga and other fun activities will be enjoyed by the boarders and we have fixtures at NLCS, Berkhamsted ad St Helen and St Katharine’s – good luck to all who are playing and we look forward to hearing the results on your return on Monday. Enjoy your weekends and I hope that you can enjoy the beautiful later summer weather in the next few days. I shall be with family in Oxfordshire enjoying long dog walks and I was delighted to discover this new framed picture in a shop in Marlow yesterday – it sums up Arlo’s weekend entirely!
