Miss Bailey's Blog - Week 22, 2024

Our journey into the world of AI has been developing and gathering momentum in recent weeks and months. It is an exciting time for us all, as well as there being a new level of capability to learn and understand. We were so delighted to welcome AI expert Lex Lang today and not only has he trained the Godstowe staff, but he spent some time with our Year 8 girls in the ICT Lab and tonight he speaks to a larger audience of parents and visitors from other schools. We will be joined by many interested colleagues and friends, including Digital Leads from Wycombe Abbey and local schools. It should be a great evening and chance to start the weekend in good form.

We have lots of new initiatives in the pipeline. You will have seen the letter which came home this week to advertise the Brook Green London bus route, our weekly accompanied Marylebone train service, extended local bus services and the chance for younger pupils to join these. Godstowe has been invited to join the senior school fairs at Bute House and Ravenscourt Park Prep in London next term and I go 'Head to Head' with other senior Heads in the next few weeks at Bute House, which will be fun and good exposure for Godstowe as we extend our reach to London families. If you work in London, or have links and contacts in the City, please do mention our London service. It has worked exceptionally well at other local prep schools, as we know, and we are excited to get going in the coming years. On 6th March, we shall be hosting another of our smaller Head and educational consultant events in London to help spread the Godstowe good news. Our school is unique and special, and I know the girls were pleased to hear of some of these new ideas.

As a reminder, see you at the Godstowe Senior Scholls Fair on Tuesday 27th February from 3-6pm. We have 37 senior schools exhibiting this year, so do come along!

This week, I was featured in Absolutely Buckinghamshire Magazine alongside other colleagues and Heads, such as Emma McKendrick, Liz Hewer, Sarah Rollings and then other leading ladies in the local area. It was a real privilege to be included and fascinating to read of the work other strong female leads are doing inside education and and in other industries. These sorts of role models can only inspire your girls, showing that success and fulfilment can come in many forms.

Have a super weekend and see you at Lex Lang's talk shortly! The boarders have an action-packed weekend in store with falconry and a trip to Cirque Du Soleil in London. I am off with my new nephew to Kingston Bagpuize House this weekend, to see the carpet of snowdrops that are drawing the crowds. Wherever you are, enjoy the rest, fun and family time together.
