Miss Bailey's Blog - 10th May 2024
Well, after a long wait, I was delighted to travel to the annual BSA Head's Conference on Tuesday. It's always a vibrant and buzzing event, with Heads from across the world at Prep and Senior boarding school level. Added to that, was the fact that we had been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious BSA Supporting Junior Boarders Award, which meant there was a further tinge of excitement for the Tuesday Awards Dinner! What an array of inspiring themes and speakers, including the former CEO of Lloyd's of London, Dame Inga Beale, who the girls would have loved. Representing Godstowe at these sort of events is good fun and there is always a strong sense of camaraderie over the two days.
However, after a long wait, I am absolutely delighted that Godstowe WON the Supporting Junior Boarders Award! What a wonderful accolade for our school and by far and beyond, one of the better categories to win! We have waited patiently to announce this to our girls today in Celebration Assembly this morning, and we now plan to be posting this far and wide on our media channels! It created quite a stir at the evening and I'm so proud of our team.
Thank you to all the boarding team that work tirelessly to make our young boarders happy, safe, entertained and well looked after. There are many things that we do very well at here at Godstowe and it is good to see the school being rightly recognised for excellence. A very proud Head here today and let's all share in this success. I am sure there will be many more triumphs to follow. Having been recognised by Talk Education for our Creative and Performing Arts programme, our senior girls also gained 1st place as the only all-girls team at the STEAM Challenge at Heathfield last week. It has been a good few weeks for our school and a chance for us to focus on the excellence being achieved by our staff and students.
Have a super weekend. We have our Open Morning tomorrow and I look forward to seeing you all at the Art and Design Exhibition and Fashion Show from 6.30 tonight. The JK Theatre is looking quite wonderful... see you there!
