Headmistress' Welcome
Welcome to Godstowe, and I hope you enjoy exploring our school and all that we have to offer. As we celebrate our 125th anniversary in 2025, we reflect on the qualities that continue to make Godstowe a truly special school, and the wonderful journey that begins for each and every child who joins us.
It is an absolute privilege to lead this aspirational and vibrant community. Godstowe is a happy, thriving prep school for girls aged 7-13, with a welcoming Pre-Prep and Nursery for girls and boys aged 3-7. Approximately a third of our Prep girls are boarders, and all benefit from a nurturing environment that sets the highest standards in academics, character development, and pastoral care. Our goal is to prepare happy, confident, and successful girls for their chosen senior schools— either at 11+ or 13+ — and for life beyond the classroom.
A safe environment in which to explore, discover, and grow
The journey from early childhood to teenager is one that is all too brief, yet it is filled with limitless potential. From the moment your child steps through our gates, they embark on an educational pathway filled with opportunities to grow and flourish.
We create a safe, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to explore new ideas and embrace their sense of adventure. Over 90 lunch time and after school clubs and activities are on offer each week to inspire a range of talents and interests. Excellence in the Arts, Sports, Drama and Music is central to our success and the local and international trips schedule is ever growing and much loved.
A balance between academic achievement, personal development, and fun!
Children with a whole range of talents thrive at Godstowe; we are a non-selective school that works hard to achieve amazing outcomes. Walking into classrooms, lessons are imaginative, bespoke and of a high quality, where true wellbeing is valued above all. Each pupil is seen and known as an individual and our dedicated and experienced teaching and pastoral team are exceptional. Our young learners are guided to think broadly and independently, and make connections.
The final two years at Godstowe, whether as a boarder or day girl, offer unparalleled opportunities for growth. Our alumni speak with such enthusiasm about their time at the school, their successes, the confidence they gained and the friendships for life that they made. When your daughter graduates from Godstowe she will have made the transformation from child to young woman; duckling to swan. And when that time comes, we want you to reflect with pride that you’ve already given her the journey of a lifetime.
I warmly invite you to visit our stunning 12-acre campus, meet our exceptional staff, and experience the warmth and energy of Godstowe life. We are a family school where our parents are valued as much as our pupils and there will be many opportunities for you to become involved in the community events and celebrations on offer every term.
