Q&A with our Boarding House Monitors
Boarding is a huge part of our Godstowe community, with girls from Year 3 having the option to full or flexi board. As part of our Boarding community, every year, each House elects a Boarding Monitor for the year. It is a huge privilege to be chosen as a House Monitor and become an inspiring role model for the younger Boarders. We've done a Q&A with Moana, Lexi and Nancy to find out more about being chosen for House Monitor this year.
Why did you want to be a house monitor?
Moana - I wanted to be a house monitor to help all the staff and my friends.
Lexi - I wanted to help everyone achieve their goals, I have experience from looking after my six cousins.
Nancy - When I was in form 1 I saw the house monitors and decided I wanted to do that when I was old enough.
All - It’s really nice to have a big responsibility!
What does it mean to you to be awarded house monitor?
Nancy - It's great, we’re like mini Mrs Whitleys.
Moana - It feels amazing to have such a huge responsibility
How did you feel when you found out?
Lexi - At first I felt super embarrassed because I was the first one called and I had to stand up in assembly alone but when Moana and Nancy were called as well, I was so happy.
Nancy - I was really worried when I was last to be named because I thought I might not get it but when my name was read out I felt so relieved and really proud.
Moana - I was so happy I flew up to Mars and back.
How did your family react when you went home for exeat?
Moana - When I was home, I told my Grandma, Aunty and Mum, they were super proud of me.
Lexi - I was so excited I couldn’t stop talking about it to my cousins.
What are you looking forward to most about helping as a house monitor?
Moana - I’m looking forward to helping prepare two can tuesday items for the house, I enjoy helping as we give to charity.
Nancy - Absolutely everything, just call and I’ll be free to help.
What are you most excited about this year?
Nancy - Everything in school!! I love all my subjects!
Moana - Using my new diary to stay organised this year
Nancy - Also the Ski Trip to Norway!!
