Introducing the New Boarding Assistants
Each year, we have new Boarding Assistants join us at our three Boarding Houses, Highlands, Walker and Turner. For 2023-2024, please say hello to our four new Boarding Assistants, Charlotte, Talia, Jacqui and MacKenzie. They've each shared a bit about themselves as we get to know them. We're thrilled to have them on board for this year!
Charlotte R
"My name is Charlotte and I am the new Boarding Assistant in Highlands House. I am originally from Brisbane, Australia but have been studying in Melbourne for the past year and a half. I am midway through my Bachelor of Design Degree at the University of Melbourne. I deferred this degree for 12 months to work and travel. I love children and am interested in Primary Education, which is the main reason why I am now working at Godstowe. I was a boarder myself and loved the experience; now I am sharing my passion for boarding life with the girls. I have loved getting to know the Highlands girls over the past few weeks and look forward to the year ahead!"
Talia B
"Hello, I’m Talia, the new boarding assistant at Turner House. I recently graduated with a First in Sociology from Keele University, with an international year at San Diego State University. I am originally from a very small city on the border of Wales, from which I moved away, owing to the prospects offered by my new employment at Godstowe. It was a significant transition, but one for which I am grateful because it has allowed me to explore new opportunities and experiences. I am still not sure what I want to do in the long run, but I know I want to remain busy and try something new, which is another reason I feel extremely fortunate. This position is not only an excellent learning environment, but also an opportunity for me to gain some insight into my strengths. A further advantage is that every girl who I have met so far is extremely kind, so I am looking forward to spending the rest of the year working alongside them!"
Jacqui S
"Hi, my name is Jacqui S and I am the new Boarding Assistant in Walker House. I joined Godstowe as I was keen to experience being part of an educational community. Godstowe has an excellent reputation and I found, right from the start, a welcoming and friendly environment. Coming to Godstowe also allows me more time to spend with my family and friends, as well as travel and enjoy spending more time in my French home, near Limoges. I have a diverse background in Health and Social care, along with running a complementary therapies’ business. I have taught in further education, as well as children and adults of all ages, diversities and cultures. I look forward to sharing warmth, support and inspiration with you all."
Mackenzie H
"My name is Mackenzie and I am the new Senior Gap Assistant, working between Turner House, Walker House, as well as in school. I am so excited for the opportunity to work with and get to know the pupils and staff at Godstowe and explore a potential career path. Prior to coming to Godstowe, I completed a qualification in hairdressing, working in that field for 3 years after graduating secondary school. I have since decided that hairdressing is no longer a passion. This year I want to take every opportunity I can to further my knowledge in the school environment, as I plan to study education when I return to Australia. I am also looking forward to being so close to Europe and being able to travel and explore so many new and interesting places in my free time."
