World Book Day Events - 4 March
World Book Day takes place on Thursday 4th March this year and we have activities and competitions for Lodge and Main School!
Main School
Please keep your potato book character photos coming in to Mrs Evans. You have until the end of Sunday 28th to enter and the winners will be announced next week. Thank you to the Friends of Godstowe for kindly donating our prizes.
The World Book Day £1 Book Tokens will be given out in school when we return. For those who would like to spend theirs before that, here is a link to an online version.
Next week, as part of our World Book Day celebrations, we will be taking part in the Bournville BookFest. This is normally a live event for schools in the Birmingham area, but this year it has gone online and been opened to everyone. There will be talks and draw-alongs from well-known authors, poets, and illustrators such as Katherine Rundell, Michael Rosen, Benjamin Zephaniah, Nick Sharratt and Cressida Cowell. All Main School classes will watch one talk during the week, and from Friday all the events will be available for everyone to see.
Lodge
Lodge children are encouraged to dress up as a book character... full details are on the email from Mrs Gillett sent on February 3rd.
The Friends of Godstowe will also be running a World Book Day competition for any Lodge children that would like to take part. There will be a prize per class and it’s very easy to take part. Choose one of the following categories and send in your child’s submission to [email protected] by 5pm on Thursday 4th March. Please don’t forget to add your child’s name and class in the subject line.
- Recreate a book cover - please encourage your child to use anything they can find lying around at home; or
- Send in a book review (this can be sent in the form of a short video or in writing); or
- Send in a short video of your child ‘in character’; or
- Send in a drawing by your child of their chosen book character.
A winner per class will be announced by Mrs Gillett in due course- please encourage your child to participate in this event as much or as little as they like. Happy reading everyone!
