Godstowe parent raises over £18,000 to make NHS scrubs
A member of our Godstowe parent community, Mrs Shemilt, is raising funds to make urgently needed scrubs for Doctors and Nurses on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kristie Shemilt runs Collier & Robinson, a Tailors, which makes bespoke rowing blazers. The company stopped its regular production since the outbreak because it is a “non-essential” business.
At the outbreak of the pandemic, and after learning that The Royal Berkshire Hospital is desperately short of scrubs for their Covid-19 supply department, Kristie launched a crowdfunding appeal to make 700 scrubs which reached its £8,500 target for the cost of the materials in three days, so she increased the figure to £10,200. As of today, the total raised has exceeded an amazing £18,000.
