Godstowe girls shine at IAPS Regional Athletics at Eton and the Districts in Little Marlow

Several girls from years 5, 6 and 7 had achieved the qualifying standards which enabled them to compete in the IAPS Regional Athletics competition held at Eton on Monday, 13th June.

Orla Williams won the 1500m, breaking the existing record by an outstanding 15 seconds. Annabel Tanner came second in the final of the 100m and Serena Pallenberg finished second in the 800m. Ellie Martin also finished second in the 800m for her age group. In the field events, Phoebe Fox finished second in the javelin and Talia Dicks achieved second place in the discus.

Ava Hill, Rolake Babalola, Phoebe Fox, Orla Williams and Ellie Martin qualified for the IAPS Nationals in Birmingham on 4th July as a result of their performances. Eliya Koshoni also qualified in both the 100m and high jump.

On Wednesday 15th June, the Year 7 athletics team competed in the District Athletics Championships in Little Marlow. Thirteen local schools took part and Godstowe achieved outstanding results, finishing in second place overall - and only three points behind the winners. Eliya Koshoni, who won the Victrix Ludorum at Sports Day here at Godstowe last week, won the Victrix Ludorum at the Districts as a result of her superb performances in the 100m, high jump and long jump.

The Godstowe A relay team comprising Rolake Babalola, Josie Jackson, Talia Balogun and Eliya Koshoni stormed to victory 10m ahead of the rest of the field.
