Curriculum

We believe children should be happy, secure and confident at school, and that this is the best starting point for all success.

At Godstowe Pre-Prep, we follow the Early Years curriculum for Nursery and Beginners, with high staff to child ratios to allow for personalised learning. For Kindergarten and Transition, our teaching goes beyond the National Curriculum guidelines. 

Every morning, we have a focus on Phonics, Literacy and Maths, and we try to hear the children read daily. There is a broad curriculum in Lodge, including Science, Art, DT, IT, Geography, History, RS and PSHE, usually taken by the class teacher. 

Lodge is a very nurturing and friendly community, and we recognise that each child is unique, developing in different ways. Our aim is to care for the children holistically, and to ensure that they are happy, confident and curious to learn.

We have subject specialist teachers for Music, French, Digital Learning, PE, Swimming and DT. 

We also have Learning Support available for our Pre-prep children. 

Early years, in particular, use our outdoor spaces whenever possible, and we offer a range of off-site visits and activity days, such as drama workshops. Each year, we put on two Nativity performances and hold various concerts and events.
